Is this product new?

About 99 percent of our products are new however we do carry some used and remanufactured parts. The only used and/or remanufactured parts we sell are some crankshafts, certain connecting rods and a couple gearcases. The used and remanufactured parts are clearly marked as such. You can view the condition of any part by clicking on the product information tab just to the right of the "product description" tab toward the bottom of the product page.

How long before my order is shipped?

Typically all parts are in stock, however we do have some occasions where a product must be transferred to us before shipment. Either way, most orders are usually shipped within 24 business hours although in some circumstances it can take up to 48 business hours to ship your order. If there is any further delay we will contact the customer to let them know.

I have a sales tax exemption certificate but the site is charging me sales tax.

If I place my order on Wednesday evening and select UPS 2nd Day Air as the shipping option, will it be delivered on Friday or Saturday?

Actually neither! The first opportunity we have to process the order will be Thursday morning. Therefore, even if the order gets picked up with our afternoon pickup on Thursday, the "2nd day" would be Monday because UPS doesn't count Saturdays as a normal delivery "business" day. However, UPS will deliver on Saturday if the Saturday premium service has been selected at an additional fee. The cost to add that service is about $20 added to the UPS Air shipping cost. We don't offer this on our website, so you must call us to place this order.

I see you sell tools. Do you accept returns on tools if it ends up not being the correct one for my application?

We do sell many tools however none of them are returnable. We used to accept tools for return until we noticed that many were being purchased, used by the customer, then returned to us for a refund. Unfortunately we do not sell used tools therefore we were unable to resell them. Many customers received the tool back with no credit issued in these situations. Because of this abuse of our return policy we have unfortunately had to discontinue returns of tools as we are not a tool loaner service. If you need a tool, it is highly advised that you verify the correct tool part number within your service manual and compare that number to those on our site before purchasing.

What length of steering cable do I need?

The best way to determine your steering cable length is by finding the numbers stamped on the plastic jacket of your old cable. If you cannot find any numbers, pull the cable out and a tape measure. Use the following formula to figure out your necessary replacement cable length.

For Rotary Steering Cables:
On your old cable, measure the black plastic jacketed section of the cable only, up to the crimped metal (do not measure onto the metal crimps). Take that measurement and add 30 inches. Take that total and round to the next whole foot. This is your cable length needed.

For Rack Steering Cables:

Do you sell internationally?

Yes! The shipping options shown in the checkout are calculated directly from USPS and UPS respectively. During the checkout you will be offered two payment options. Payment via Paypal may be required if your credit card issuing bank is not within the USA. We can only accept credit cards (processed in the checkout) that have an issuing bank within the USA. Our site will likely offer to process your credit card directly in the checkout of our site however it will decline every time if not USA based. Due to online fraudsters, we have had to require that payment for all international orders, be placed using a payment via Paypal. Please note, you are NOT required to have a Paypal account to process the payment on their site. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may cause you.

How can I determine if my fuel pump is bad?

Electric Fuel Pumps:
Using a volt meter, test the wires leading to the fuel pump for voltage. If voltage is present and the pump is not running, you have a bad pump. If there is no voltage then your issue is somewhere else. Additionally, if the pump is running but the fuel rail doesn't have the required pressure, you could have a weak pump or a stuck fuel pressure regulator.

Mechanical Fuel Pumps:
There are a couple ways to determine a failure of a mechanical "pulse" style fuel pump. Generally the easiest way is to have someone at the back of the boat squeezing the primer bulb firmly while the running the engine. When doing this, be sure to keep firm pressure on the bulb as you are trying to keep the fuel system full of fuel. If the engine performs without losing power, then the fuel pump(s) is likely bad.
Another way to determine if the fuel pump is bad is to check the pulse side of the fuel pump. The pulse hose and/or pulse port on the pump should be dry with no fuel present. The presents of fuel within the pulse side of the pump or pulse hose is an indicator of a failed diaphragm and the need to replace the fuel pump.

What is the piston to cylinder clearance for the pistons you sell?

The pistons we sell (and all other marine piston manufacturers) have the clearance actually built into the piston. So to ensure a correct fit, you would need to ensure your bore is the correct size for the piston being ordered. To determine the correct bore size you will need to know what the standard bore for your engine is. You would then add the oversize measurement to that, to come up with the finished bore size. For example, the standard bore for a Mercury 2.5L powerhead is 3.500". If a .020" oversize piston is ordered, the bore should be finished to 3.520".
